BASIC
SKILL: 'Standing
Pole' (Zhan Zhuang), to develop strong legs, grounding, and a calm
mind, and 'Silk-Reeling Exercises' (Chan si gong), to open the acupuncture
channels and link the individual postures in the form into a smooth,
continuous flow.
THE
19 POSTURE SHORT FORM: Created
recently by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang as an introduction to the
style. It is a fusion of Old, New and Small Frame (Xiao Jia).
THE
38 POSTURE SHORT FORM: Also
created by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang. An abbreviated synthesis of
Old and New Frames, with greater emphasis on spiralling and issuing
power than the 19 Form.
OLD
FRAME 1ST FORM (LAO JIA YI LU): The
Long Form incorporates the basic principles and techniques of Taijiquan
and prepares the student for light wrestling and push-hands.
OLD
FRAME 2ND FORM (LAO JIA ER LU) OR 'CANNON FIST' (PAOCUI):
A
dynamic form with increased focus on issuing power (fa jing) and
rapidly changing footwork, which prepares the student for combat
situations.
